In Summary

The Affordable Housing Board has warned Kenyans that Brightwood Apartments is not linked to the Boma Yangu program, urging the public to avoid payments, verify adverts, and use official contacts only.

The Affordable Housing Board has issued a stern warning to the public over fraudulent claims by Brightwood Apartments Company, which is falsely promoting itself as part of the Boma Yangu Affordable Housing Program. The Board said it has no affiliation with the company and urged Kenyans to exercise caution when engaging with such offers.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Board clarified that any advertisement or communication linking Brightwood Apartments to the government housing initiative is “false and unauthorized.” It advised the public not to make any payments or share personal information in response to these claims.

“The Affordable Housing Board wishes to inform the public that Brightwood Apartments Company is not acting on behalf of the Board and has no affiliation or association with the Boma Yangu Affordable Housing Program,” the statement read.

The Board noted that Brightwood Apartments has been actively promoting housing units online and in the media, claiming to sell social and middle-class units under the government scheme. Prices for these properties range from Sh3,900 for studio apartments to over Sh5 million for larger homes.

Despite these listings, the Board reiterated that none are linked to the Boma Yangu program, warning that any payments made could result in financial loss. “The public is advised not to make any payments or share personal information in response to such claims,” the statement emphasized.

The alert also included official channels for verifying legitimate information, urging Kenyans to use the numbers 0700832832 or 0739832932, or email [email protected] for any enquiries about the housing program.

By issuing this warning, the Affordable Housing Board seeks to protect citizens from scams and reinforce the credibility of the Boma Yangu Affordable Housing Program. The Board reminded the public to rely only on verified communication channels for housing transactions and cautioned about the ongoing risk of fraudulent schemes in the real estate market.
